The Kanes work with a nutritionist to ensure the grain provides a well-balanced diet for Sunflower Beef cattle. In addition, no growth hormones or steroids are used, antibiotics are used minimally to address a health issue, and vaccines are only administered per veterinarian recommendation.
Sunflower Beef cattle are fed grain twice each day and supplemented with grass and hay. To attain sustainable farming practices, the Kanes work with a local scientist and agronomist to unlock the nutrients available in the soil and become less dependent on commercial fertilizers.
